Instruction of Close Reading to "Garden Path Phenomenon" in Syntax

DU Jia-li(College of Foreign Languages,Ludong University,Yantai Shandong 264025,China)
Garden Path Phenomenon(GPP) distinguished in terms of semantic short circuit is not globally ambiguous.GPP at the sentence level is the kernel one.Three-knowledge of MCR embodies the inner-potential ability and three-capability reflects the outer-actual ability.Only by means of combining the inner-potential one with the outer-actual one can the general priniciple of close reading come into being. The principle explaining how GPP exists comprises one semantic central-point,three related sections of cognitive, structural and functional ones, and four important characters of comprehensive, pervasive, productive and interpretative ones.
