The Effectiveness of Lexical Approach on College English Writing Teaching

The present research was conducted to investigate to what extent lexical approach facilitates the college English writing skills.A one-year teaching experiment among 90 freshmen who are non English majors was conducted,and their contrasting usages of lexical chunks after the experiment were analyzed.The effectiveness of lexical approach on college English writing teaching was also analyzed.The research indicates:compared with the control group students,the students in the experimental group have a higher frequency in using lexical chunks with different lengths,tend to choose more kinds of lexical chunks in writing,and make less mistakes in using lexical chunks.The research also indicates lexical approach is to some extent effective in college English writing teaching.
