ZHOU Duan-hua,WANG Ming,PENG Zhi-li,et al(Guangzhou Center for Disease Prevention and Control ,Guangzhou 510080)
Objective To investigate the iodine nutritional status and regular ity for three groups of people-pregnant women, children aged 0 to 2 and their mo thers in Guangzhou city. Methods Sampling was taken from four groups of pelple-n on-pregnant women, pregnant women, children aged 0 to 2 and their mothers from 12 districts and counties in Guangzhou city, and the urine iodine of the sampling p ersons was tested. Results The medians of urine iodine of non-pregnant women, pre gnant women, mothers of children aged 0 to 2 were 250.3 ìg/L,212.8 ìg/L and 198 .3 ìg/L,respectively.The percentages of low urine iodine (100 ìg/L) were 9.9 %,14.9%and 16.2%,respectively.The percentages of higher urine iodine(≥80 ìg /L) were 5.8%,3.2%and 1.6%,respectively. Statistics showed significant differ ence between these 3 groups. The median of urine iodine in children aged 0 to 2 w as 260.8 ìg/L.The values of urine iodine in children with breast-feeding were significantly higher than those of children without breast-feeding .But the val ues of urine iodine in wet-nurse were lower than that in non-breast-feeding m others. The urine iodine leves of children aged 0 to 1 were correlated with their mothers. The urine iodine in mid-pregnancy was relatively low. Conclusions The v alues of urine iodine in pregnant women and mothers are sufficient, but lower tha n those in non-pregnant women. This indicates that IDD prevention should focus o n the pregnant women(especially in mid-pregnancy) and mothers of children aged 0 to 2 (especially wet-nurse).
