A comparative study of of anxiety and depression before and after the interventional therapy among patients with newly diagnosed coronary heart disease in a Beijing hospital

Objective To understand if surgery and postoperative psychological intervention can relieve symptoms of anxiety and depression among newly diagnosed patients with coronary heart disease in a Beijing hospital.Methods The eligible patients accepted interventional therapy and psychological intervention after surgery in a ward Cardiology from December 2009 to December 2011.We collect demographic information,social support scores,anxiety and depression scores before and after surgery.Results This study investigated a total of 200cases of newly diagnosed coronary heart disease.Social support total score is 40.9±6.8.Anxiety and depression standard scores were both relieved after operation(42.0vs.33.0,Z=-8.3,P=0;43.0vs.33.0,Z=-7.1,P=0).Compared with the national norm,preoperative anxiety situation worse than the norm(Z=-7.8,P=0),postoperative anxiety conditions than the norm to be lighter(Z=-2.8,P=0.005).So it is with the depression(Z=-2.9,P=0.004);Z=-5.0,P=0).Conclusions:Patients with newly diagnosed coronary heart disease in a Beijing hospital after the surgery and after psychological intervention,anxiety and depression are eased.
