Determination of iodine speciation of food by using high performance liquid chromatography-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry

Objective The method for the determination of iodine species in food contained iodate salt was developed.Methods Samples were transferred to ammonium carbonate solution for extraction,mixed with methanol for removing fat and protein,then filtered by filter membrane, finally the extracts were determined by using High performance liquid chromatography-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry( HPLC-CP-MS).Results The HPLC-CP-MS method was provided with favorable linear relation( correlation coefficients were greater than 0.9990). The average recovery rate were 95. 1% ~ 107. 6%. The relative standard deviation were 5.0 %,showed a good precision.The detection limit concentration of iodate and iodide ion were 0.88 μg/L,and the limit of quantification were 2.85 μg/L.Conclusions The method has good separation of iodine species,high sensitivity,and high recovery rate.The method is suitable for iodate and iodide separation in the food sample.
