Analysis on syphilis epidemic surveillance results from 2004 to 2015 in Jilin Province

Objectives To analyze syphilis epidemic surveillance results of Jilin Province( 2004 ~ 2015),in order to provide reference for syphilis prevention and control.Methods Syphilis epidemic surveillance data( 2004 ~ 2015) were collected and descriptively analyzed on its epidemic situation.Results The total of 53 917 syphilis cases from 2004 to 2015 were reported in Jilin Province,including 24 688 male( 45.79%) and 29 229 female( 54.21%) patients, the number of female reported cases was more than that of male ones.The first stage syphilis cases ranked the top of the total ones( accounting for 37.32%); the most cases in 20-49-year-old group accounted for 71.58%. Conclusion The syphilis epidemic status showed an ascending trend from 2004 to2011 in Jilin Province and it somewhat slowed down from 2012 to 2015,however,it still remains high level. Hence,the epidemic surveillance should be consolidated and health education be extensively enlarged so that the syphilis transmission can be effectively controlled.
