Preliminary FEM analysis of four-column rotary forging machine frame

The frame of the rotary forging machine was analyzed by mechanics.The simplified model of the rotary forg- ing machine frame was built in UG software and led into the finite element software ANSYS.According to the charac- teristics of the forces applied on the machine,three conditions were chosen to carry on the finite dement analysis and the stress distribution rule of the upper and lower beams along the X axis and the central of the columns were obtained. The stresses of the both beams had two maximum values along the X axis,and the stresses of the columns were small in the middle portion and large at the upper and lower ends.The results are useful for the structural design of the rota- ry forging machine.
