Effects of Cold Seawater Immersion on Hematology and Histopathology of Some Important Organs in Rats

To investigate the effects of cold seawater immersion on hematology and histopathology of heart,liver,kidney and lung in rats,20 healthy SD male rats(10 days before the experiment)were randomly divided into normal group and cold seawater immersion group.The rats in normal group were set in room temperature for 5 hand cold seawater immersion group were immersed in 15℃±0.5℃artificial seawater for5 h.The changes of blood routine,coagulation,liver and kidney function and the histopathology of heart,liver,kidney and lung were observed.After immersing for 2 h,the rat abdominal temperature was close to water temperature and maintained to 5 h.Compared with the normal group,the percentages of red blood cells,hemoglobin,hematocrit and neutrophils of rats in cold seawater immersion group increased(P 0.01),leukocyte and platelet counts decreased(P0.01).The levels of prothrombin time,activated partial thromboplastin time and international standard ratio were increased(P0.05);AST,ALT,urea and creatinine were significantly increased(P0.05).There was no significant change in histopathology of heart and kidney.but the histopathology of lung and liver were abnormal obviously.Blood routine,coagulation,liver and kidney function were significantly changed by cold seawater immersion and the pathological lesion of lung was prominent,followed by the liver,however the pathological damage of heart and kidney were not obvious.
