Effects of Taurine on Anti-oxidative Indexes and Inflammatory Cytokines in Hyperuricemic Rats

To investigate the anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory effects of taurine on hyperuricemic rats.Forty SD rats were randomized into 5 equal groups,which were designated as untreated control group(C),hyperuricemic model group(M),10 g/L taurine group(T1),20 g/L taurine group(T2)and 20 g/L taurine control group(TC),eight rats in each group.Then,in T1、T2 and TC groups for 7 days before model establishment and rats in C and M drinked normally.Then,rats in M,T1 and T2 groups were administered intragastrically with adenine(200 mg/kg)and ethambutol hydrochloride(250 mg/kg)once per day for consecutive 10 days.Blood samples were collected for the detection of uric acid、XOD、antioxidant indexes and inflammatory markers.The results showed that when compared with hyperuricemic model rats,uric acid levels,XOD activities,the content of MDA were significantly decreased,and serum SOD and GSH-PX were significantly increased after taurine treatment.IL-1,IL-6,TNF-αand TGF-βlevels in T1 and T2 groups were significantly lower than those in hyperuricemic model rats.Therefore,taurine could enhance antioxidative capability and inhibit inflammatory responses in hyperuricemic rats,and have a protective effect on the kidney.
