Preparation and Characterization of Pt-Co/C Bimetallic Nanoparticles

The electrocatalytic activity of Pt-Co/C bimetallic nanoparticles towards Methanol oxidation is explored by cyclic voltammetry of the nanoparticles supported on Glass-carbon electrode.The particles are prepared by immersion-reduction method from a bath of mixed concentrations of CoCl2 and H2PtCl6.The activity of the bimetallic particles is found to be maximized when the atom ratio Pt ∶ Co is 2 ∶ 1.Moreover,Pt-Co/C with the Pt∶ Co composition of 2 ∶ 1 has much more stabilization of methanol oxidation and tolerance CO poisoning.
