Studies on Hybrid Electrochemical Capacitors Based on Polyaniline and Activated Carbon

Composite materials were fabricated by in-situ polymerization of aniline on activated carbon. Specific capacitance of the composite electrodes was tested by galvanostatic charge/discharge method. The results show that specific capacitance of the composite is about 191.8 F/g, which is 56% higher than that of polyaniline, when activated carbon is at 14.9% of the composite. Hybrid electrochemical capacitors were fabricated, which the composite as an anodic electrode, and activated carbon modified by CO2 as a cathodic electrode. Specific energy and specific power of the capacitors could reach 8.7 Wh/kg and 878W/kg in 6 mol/L NaOH aqueous solution respectively.
