NEW PROGRESS IN THE APPLICATION OF STRONTIUM ISOTOPES IN SEDIMENTOLOGY

Owing to the improvements on analytical and testing techniques, great progress has been made in research on Sr isotopes. Some global consistent and comparable marine Sr isotope curves for the Phanerozoic have been established recently. Now, Sr isotopes can be used not only to constrain the origin and evolution of magma and hydrothermal ore\|forming solutions, calculate the scale and degree of lithogenesis and ascertain the relations between fluids and rocks, but also to study sea\|level fluctuation, plate movement, ocean\|floor spreading and lithogenic evolution. Some hot research fields such as global change, ecology and environment and Sr isotope are becoming more and more important.
