ANALYSIS OF THE GEOCHEMICAL DISTRIBUTION CHARACTERISTICS OF HEAVY METAL ELEMENTS IN SOIL IN TAIYUAN BASIN AND TAIYUAN CITY

Soil from the Taiyuan Baisin is investigated in this paper, and the distribution and multifractal characteristics of 8 heavy-metal elements Cd, Cr ,Hg, Ni, Pb, Zn, As, and Cu in the soil of the Taiyuan Basin are also described. In combination with geological qualification on the heavy metal distribution, the degree of pollution of the soil has been evaluated. The background values of the soil in the Taiyuan Basin were calculated first. And we analyzed the pollution status of the soil in the basin, and suggested that the two elements Hg, Cd are the most serious pollutants. Then the multifractal pictures of the 8 heavy-metal elements have been drawn under pairs of logarithm coordinates by using the data of shallow and deep soil layers in the city and basin. Statistic analysis was made of the influences and functions of the heavy-metal elements on the ecological environment. Furthermore, the fractal law of the heavy-metal elements is summarized and the order of significance of the influential factors is indicated as well.
