Moho depth distribution character beneath the Ordos block's northern margin areas and surrounding regions

Around the Ordos block, graben system and thrust belt in its edge are the regions with strong seismicity. The Ordos block northern margin areas are a region of strong historical earthquakes where had happened a few strong earthquakes above magnitude 6.0. Crustal thicknesses in the Ordos block and surrounding regions were estimated by the use of the H–κ stacking method on teleseismic receiver functions. The data came from 36 temporary and 15 permanent seismic stations from the year 2009 to 2015. Results show that the crustal thickness gently vary within the Ordos block. Therefore, the Moho depth show strong lateral variations with geological structure in the Ordos block northern margin areas, and gradually increases from eastern areas to western areas.
