Analysis of seismic activity in Shandong Province based on land surface bright temperature

Based on MODIS data, the temporal and spatial variation of Shandong province's land surface bright temperature are studied to find out the relationship between it and the seismic activity. Results show that 4 obvious bright temperature rising zones where seismic activity may enhance exist in Shandong Province in the year of 2015. Both the Rushan and Changdao earthquake swarm can be reflected by land bright temperature rising zone. The Fengyidian, Rushan and Haiyang fault got obvious increasement in bright temperature, whereas the Yishu, Liaocheng—Lankao fault did not. On the whole, the surface temperature of the east part of Shandong province which located east to the 120° E longitude increased more than that of the central and the west part, which probably foreshow more seismic activities in the Jiaodong Peninsula in the future.
