Responses of Marine Carbonate Reservoirs to Fault Activities

In marine carbonate petroliferous basins,the responses of marine carbonate reservoirs to fault activities were mainly shown in the following three aspects:(1)forming fractures accompanying with fault activities;(2)forming hydrothermal dolomitization controlled by faults;(3)faults and fractures forming the most important passways for fluid migration,which increased the depth of the karstification.The reservoir properties of carbonate rock were improved by the fault activities through the above three aspects.In the meanwhile,the high porosity-permeability belts developing nearby the fault zone had created conditions for the accumulation of hydrocarbon.Generally,on plane distribution,the response scale of marine carbonate reservoirs to fault activities is no larger than 10 km away from the main faults.
