Diagenesis and Porosity Quantification Research:A Study from Chang 8_1 Reservior of Upper Triassic Yanchang Formation in Ordos Basin,China

Based on the pore casting thin sections,scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and X-ray diffraction,combined with analysis of physical properties,this paper studies in detail the porosity evolution under the control of diagenesis of Chang 8_1 reservoir in Jingchuan area,Ordos Basin.The study area is dominated by lithic arkose sandstones,arkose and feldspathic lithic sandstone.The reservoir rocks mainly developed intergranular pores and intragranular dissolved pores,which have undergone complex diagenesis,mainly including compaction,cementation,alteration,corrosion and fracture.The reservoir rocks are now in middle diagenetic stages of A period-early B period.Moreover,the diagenetic evolution sequences are identified as compaction→secondary enlargement of the quartz,iron,calcite,and thin film shaped chlorite cementation→feldspar and rock debris dissolution→kaolinite,advanced pore filling type chlorite,illite and Fe-bearing carbonate.The quantitative evaluation research of pore formation and loss of different diagenesis in sandstone reservoirs reveals that the compaction causes the porosity to decrease the most,with an average of 22.70%,the average porosity of the early cementation losing 6.07%.The dissolution of feldspar and rock debris increases the average porosity as much as 1.035%;the average porosity of the late cementation losing 9.18%.It is the transformation of a variety of diagenesis that eventually formed a unique porosity characteristics of the study area today,which has a stronger practicality and guidance for the study of oil and gas exploration.
