Facies-Controlled Reservoir Modeling Method Based on Geostatistical Inversion and Reservoir Classification

Palaeogene Yabus Formation,the major reservoir of T-M Oilfield,Melut Basin,South Sudan,is a complex faulted fluvial sedimentary deposit.In this area the sandbodies are thin,the deposit is not stable in lateral distribution and the major reservoir's distribution is obscure.The traditional reservoir modeling method does not satisfy the requirement of the thin reservoir modeling.Therefore,this paper defined the rational facies type and applied the geostatistical inversion as the constraint to establish the high-resolution lithofacies model.Furthermore,the facies-controlled sequential indicator simulation,the core data fitting and the J function were applied to predict respectively the thin reservoir's petrophysical distribution for different reservoir classification.The practice of the method in T-M Oilfield proved that the model established by this method solved the problem of predicting the distribution of the thin reservoir and thin-interbedded reservoir effectively and improved the resolution and precision of the prediction of the reservoir's petrophysical distribution.
