Energy Stability Unit of Medical Excimer Laser System

This paper introduces the principle of Excimer laser in cornea ablation surgery application. Analyzes how laser cavity, laser frequency, environment temperature and operation process etc. can affect laser energy stability which directly affects the surgery quality. Describes the system and principle of Excimer laser cornea ablation instrument without energy stability control unit. According to automatic control principle, designed a laser energy stability control unit to real timely control the laser output energy during the cornea ablation surgery. Test results shows that laser energy variation is within 5 % during 2 hours operation time with laser energy stability control unit while laser energy variation can be more than 50 % during 2 hours operation time without laser energy stability control unit. Surgery cases also show the satisfactory cornea ablation results with laser energy stability unit.
