The present paper deals with a de,tailed section of Lower Ordovician graptolite rocks of Chongyi, Jiangxi. The succession of the graptolite zones is as follows: M. Ordovician Glyptograptus teretiusculus zone Conformity L. Ordovician Ninggu9 formation Pterograptus elegans zone Amplexograptus confertus zone Nicholsondgraptus fasciculatus subzone Didymograptus ellesae subzone Glyptograptus austrodentatus zone Cardiograptus amplus zone Oncograptus zone Didymograptus abnormis zone Didymograptus "protobifidus" zone Tetragraptus fruticosus zone Tetragraptus (Etagr.) approximatus zone Conformity Yinzhufu formation Beds with Anisograptus-Clonograptus The Ningguo formation is 385 metres thick'and is essentially composed of slate. The Lower Ordovician graptolite zones, of Chongyi (southwest Jiangxi) and western Zhejiang may be thus correlated with equivalent zones of Britain, Australia and North America, as shown in Table 3.
