QUANTITATIVE THEORY ON THE POLARIZATION FIGURES OF ANISOTROPIC MINERALS
In this paper theoretical formulas are derived for calculation of the following optics related to the polarization figures of the anisotropic minerals from the quantitative theory related to the polarization, figures of isotropic minerals. 1. Combination rotation angle of reflection and anisotropism (AR). 2. Combination apparent rotation angle (ARr) 3. Equation of black isogyres. 4. Angular distance of black isogyres 2α. 5. Reflectivity between crossed polars (ar+). 6. Average reflectivity between crossed polars (ar+). 7. Average reflectivity (R). The origin and a variety of related opticall phenomena of the polarization figures of anisotropic minerals are interpreted quantitatively by using these formulas, and some new conclusions are suggested. At the end of this paper, as examples, calcite with cleavage, rutile and hematire are calculated.
