Joint Power Control in CDMA Cellular Mobile Communication Systems

Power control is a key technique in CDMA cellular mobile communication systems.It can combat near far effect,reduce multiple access interference and improve the system capacity.The 3 rd generation mobile communication systems present some new problems for power control technique.This paper introduces the basic concepts about joint power control technique in CDMA cellular systems.The focus is on the recent development of the following three subjects in multimedia CDMA system:joint power and rate control technique,joint power control and multiuser detection technique,joint power control and adaptive antenna array processing technique.We analyze the unsettled problem so far,and suggest the future direction for power control study.
