Effect of Lack Oxygen on Cytochrome Oxidase of RAT Myocardium:Ultrastructural Image Analysis

Ten rats were randomly divided into the experimental group(6 rats)and the control group(4rats). The ex-perimental animals were put into a glass battle(volume 5500ml)containing 100g Na2O for 90 min. Then the ani-mals were taken out from the battle, and fixed by perfusing through the abdomenal aorta. The tissue specimens were taken from the left ventricle. The DAB method combining the Cerium-based method was used in the reaction of the cytochrome oxidase. Meanwhile. the control animals were handled as same way. The parameters of the atructure and the enzymic active reaction of the myocardial mitochondria both the experimental and the control ani-mals were analysed with the image analysis system(Omnicon 3600). 50 mitochondria in each group were analysed. The results have shown that the enzymic activity of the cytochrome oxidase in the experimental group is very aignificanfly weakened to compare with that in the control animals.
