Effect of HMBA on Human Gastric Adenocarcinoma Cell NM-IF System

This paper studies the structural changes of the NM-IF system of human gastric adenocarcinoma cell line MGc80-3 after being induced by 5mM hexamethylene bisacetamide (HMBA). The results of whole mount cell electron microscopy show that: filaments of NM and IF in carcinoma cell are short and thick, and connected to each other irregularly and relaxedly; however, after being induced, the three-dimentional architecture of the NM-IF system changes a lot. The filaments become longer and thinner, and connected to each othe orderly and tightly to form a regular network in the whole cell. These reversional changes of the NM-IF system play important roles in the course of malignant phenotypic reversion of the carcinoma cells.
