A study on morphology structure of vessel molecular of the genus Spiraea in Heilongjiang province was conducted by scanning electron microscope( SEM) and resin casting method. The results show that there is obvious difference in the length, the width and the slope of vessel molecules. Opposite pitting was observed in the S. dahurica Maxim. Opposite pitting and alternate opposite in the S. sericea Turcz.,S. chamaedryfolia Linn.,S. salicifolia Linn.,S. flexuosa Fisch. ex Camb.,and S. aquilegifolia Pall were also observed. Alternate pitting was observed in the S. pubescens Turcz.,S. elegan Pojark.,S. media Schmidt.,S. canescens D.Don.,S. fritschiana Schneid., S. trilobata Linn., S. pubescens Turcz., S. hailarensis Liou. and S. trichocarpa Nakai. The morphological types of vessel molecules: all of the Spiraea have pitted; reticulate exists in the S. flexuosa Fisch. ex Camb.,S.trichocarpa Nakai. and S. elegan Pojark.; sppiral exists in the S. thunbergli Sieb. ex Bl.,S. pubescens Turcz.,S. pubescens Turcz.,S.media Schmidt. And S. hailarensis Liou.. The morphological structures of the inner wall of the vessel molecules were provided. These can provide morphological basis for the evolution of Spiraea system and discussing their adaptability and environment.
