SOME EXAMPIES OF APPLICATION OF MOHR'S CIRCLE GRAPHIC METHOD IN THE TECTONIC ANALYSIS

The azimuth and intensity of main stress, and stress-values varying with azimuth can be described according to the measuring results of stress in three directions by Mohr's circle graphic method. Under certain conditions, the major axis of stress can also be deduced from other physical factors such as the velocity of sound, apparent resistivity, etc. And the variational features of increments varying with time may be analysed. After determining the major axis given at the original measuring position, various components of stress at different structrural planes can be explained through diagram. The principal advantages of the method are simple and straightforward.
