Expression of Thymidine Phosphorylase in Breast Carcinoma and its Clinical Significance

Objective To study the relationship of thymidine phosphorylase (TP) with intratumoral microvessel density (IMVD) and the clinical and pathological features in breast carcinoma.Methods The expression of TP in 82 cases with breast carcinoma and 17 cases with normal breast tissue were measured by immunohistochemistry.Intratumoral microvessel density was immunohistochemically detected using anti-CD34 monoclonal antibody.Results The level of TP of cancer cell was more than that of normal breast tissue cell (P0.05).Moreover,IMVD of the TP-high-expression group was significantly higher than the TP-low-expression group (P0.05).There is evident difference between the level of TP in different pathological grades (P0.05).Conclusion The expression of TP in breast carcinoma is closely correlated with angiogenesis and the clinical and pathological features.
