PIV Velocity Field Measurement of a Double Pass Burner for Pulverized Coal

Double pass burners make use of the strong jetting effect of dual primary air flow to initiate recirculation of high temperature gas with a rather strong stabilizing effect on combustion. The paper describes a cold state velocity field test in the neighbourhood of the burner's outlet, performed with a Particle Image Velocitymeter(PIV), and analyzes the field characteristics at various operating modes.
