The Relationship Between Traffic Congestion and the Layout of Urban Land Use——An Empirical Study Based on Area-Scale

This paper takes Zhengzhou as an example to study the influence of urban residentscommuting and land use layout on traffic congestion.The land data comes from the full coverage control planning compiled by Zhengzhou in 2006 and subsequent updates and adjustments.The commuting data comes from the attendance records and questionnaire surveys of some employees.Therefore,traffic congestion can be represented by three indicators:commuting time,delay time,and early-arrival time.In this paper,Zhengzhou is divided into 713 traffic areas with an area of 1 km2 as the research object.The empirical results show that the density of residential,office and commercial land,road length and road network density all have a significant impact on traffic congestion.
