Effects and mechnism of highly unsaturated fatty acids on the metabolism of aquatic animal

Highly unsaturated fatty acids(HUFAs) are necessary fatty acids(EFAs) for organisms,which play important and multiple functions. However, studies on the effect of fat and fatty acids in theanimal are much more than HUFAs, resulting in poor understanding of HUFAs' s effects and their mech-anism. The present paper reviews the effect and mechanism of HUFAs on the metabolism of aquatic an-imal, in which emphasis is in the metabolism of fatty acids, proteins, carbohydate and nuclear acids.The purpose is to investigate further the effect and mechanism of HUFAs on the metabolism of aquaticanimal as well as their regulating mechanism. Asa result, HUFAs are effectively used to controlthe metabolism of aquatic animal, to improvegrowth and development, to promote healthyaquaculture and productive effectiveness, to in-crease economical and social effectiveness.
