On the Wind-Excited Behaviour and its Researches for Suspension Bridges

Chen Shen (Fuzhou University)
In this paper, the aeroelastic phenomena of suspension bridges, such as flutter, buffeting, galloping, vortex-induced oscillation, are briefly introduced. The researches on the wind-induced vibrations of suspension bridges made by structural engineers and aerodynamicists in respects of test, theory, computation, etc. for fifty years and more are discussed. In addition, several existing problems being worth approaching are posed.
