Degradation of Malachite Green in Sediment by Immobilized Pantoea sp. EF192586

Pantoea sp. EF192586 capable of highly degrading Malachite Green was immobilized by 2% sodium alginate to degrade Malachite Green in sediment. Results indicated that immobilized bacteria can degrade Malachite Green in sediment with different initial concentrations. When initial concentration was 0.45 and 0.95μg/g dry weight,the degradation efficiency was 80%. Degradation efficiency will increase with immobilized biomass if biomass was no more than 1.5g. Initial degradation rate increased when amount of water decreased. Natural light can also degrade Malachite Green in sediment.
