Purification Potentials of Different Soils to Leachate

A simulated soil column experiment was performed to compare the efficiency of NH4+-N and COD removal from landfill leachate by different soils.Results showed that purple soil removed 95% of NH4+-N from landfill leachate,while the efficiency for removing COD was the lowest.Humus soil had the highest efficiency for COD removal,and the concentration of NH4+-N decreased with the increase of pH of effluent.Yellow soil had higher capacity to remove NH4+-N than that of humus soil,but had lower ability to remove COD.Efficiency of pollutant removal decreased with the increase of influent times.
