Heavy Metal Removal from Municipal Sludge Using Acetic Acid-Ferrite Sedimentation Method

Technical conditions and feasibility of ferrite-acetic acid sedimentation method to remove heavy metals in municipal sludge from a wastewater treatment plant in Tianjin were studied by experiment.Under the conditions of concentration of acetic acid solution 2mol/L,content of H2O2 2%,pH value 4,reaction time 4h and room temperature,95% copper and zinc from municipal sludge can be removed.Using improved ferrite method and lime milk as neutralization,copper, zinc, chromium,nickel,cadmium and lead can be removed from sludge extract fluid by acetic acid-H2O2,with removal of copper,zinc,chromium,nickel,cadmium and lead up to 94%,98%,86%,92%,89% and 99%.
