Effect of Soil Antimony(Ⅲ) Pollution on the Growth and Quality of Sweet Mustard

Effects of soil antimony (Ⅲ)on the different concentrations on the growth and physiology and biochemistry characteristic of sweet mustard were studied by using the materials of sweet mustard which can prevent heat in four seasons. Results showed that under low concentration of antimony(Ⅲ)(≤30mg/kg)has no remarkable poison on the growth of sweet mustard,and the growth could be improved. However,with the increase of antimony concentration,negative effect had existed, with shorter and smaller fronds and decreased content of leaf pigments. Low concentration of antimony(Ⅲ)(≤30mg/kg) is faintly harmful to sweet mustard’s soluble sugar, amylum, dissolubility protein. With the increase of antimony concentration,the harm improved gradually. Soil antimony (Ⅲ)pollution has remarkable influence on the activities of SOD, POD and CAT,the more concentration the more influence ,the activities of this three enzymatic and the concentration of antimony there was a negative correlation. Both roots and leaves of sweet mustard accumulate the antimony (Ⅲ), as the concentration of antimony(Ⅲ)increase,the accumulation also increased,and the accumulation of leaves was higher than that of roots. It is proposed that sweet mustard vegetables should not be grown on antimony(Ⅲ)pollution soil.
