Intersection Traffic Noise Simulation Method Based on Microscopic Traffic Simulation

A traffic noise simulation method which based on microscopic traffic simulation is proposed. Paramics,one of the microscopic traffic simulation software,is applied to simulate the traffic flow on the signalized intersection where the traffic flow increase from100veh/h to 1,000veh/h step by step,and the traffic noise level is calculated based on the simulative traffic flow datum. It is found that when the traffic flow is unsaturated,the traffic noise level increased with the traffic flow,and linear relationship with the logarithmoftraffic flow,buttherangeofthetrafficnoiselevelisdecreasedwiththeincreaseinthetrafficflow.Thetrafficnoiselevelwill notincreasebutdecrease when the traffic flow is saturated. The noise pollution levelshows the characteristics of increased firstand then decreased with the increase in the traffic flow,and the peak value appears when the traffic flow is between 400veh/h to 500veh/h.
