Synthesis of Jarosite by Bacteria Oxidation

Jarosite as one of a rare mineral can be used as environmentally friendly pigment. In this paper,synthesis of jarosite by free sulpended cells of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans in 9K medium is studied,in a search for the optimum reaction condition in terms of initial pH and range of temperatures,with the help of analyses using XRD,FTIR and XRF. The synthesis product characterized shows the content of jarosite:89% ; and the remaining hydronium jarosite and ammonium jarosite.
