Degeneration Course of Crystal Violet Photocatalytic Degraded by TiO_2

To derive the course of degradation of crystal violet in catalytic process by TiO2,pH changes of the system were monitored by pH meter and molecular changes in functional groups were detected by spectrophotometer,with TiO2 as catalyst. A certain volume of dye solution and certain amount of catalyst were placed in the reactor to sample with a certain time intervals. pH value of the system depended on reaction time was mapped to reflect pH changes caused by intermediates generated in the system. Upper clear liquid was scanned in UV/VIS spectrophotometer at 200nm~800nm to observe the changes of absorption peak positions,peak shapes and their intensity. Triarylmethyl radicals were produced,then ammonia,carbon dioxide and water were eventually generated by demethylation,deamination and decarboxylation following the degradation of aryl amine,in the degradation of crystal violet process or tris (p-aminophenyl) methane may be the first products.
