Degradation of 2,4-dichlorophenol with Photocatalyst Prepared by Ti-bearing Blast Furnace Slags

Photocatalyst was prepared by Ti-bearing blast furnace slags from Panzhihua Iron and Steel Company,Sichuan Province as raw materials and was used in degradation of 2,4-dichlorophenol,the effects of catalyst dosage,light intensity,reaction time on degradation of 2,4-dichlorophenol were studied.Results showed that photocatalyst prepared by Ti-bearing blast furnace slags has a better photocatalytic effect,with degradation rate up to 77.1% in concentration of 2,4-dichlorophenol 50mg/L under conditions of catalyst dosage 0.3g/L and illumination time of 2h.Through kinetic analysis of reaction Ti-bearing blast furnace slags on degradation rate of 2,4-dichlorophenol followed first-order reaction.Photocatalytic degradation of 2,4dichlorophenol products were found through analysis that C-Cl bond on benzene ring was oxidized and then fractured by hydroxyl radical from photocatalyst,Cl substitute became free Cl-existing in the solution,2,4-dichlorophenol was degraded by ·OH and generated intermediate product of small molecule organic,and small molecule organics were further degraded under photocatalysis.
