Progress on Matrix in a Subsurface Wastewater Infiltration System

Subsurface wastewater infiltration system(SWIS) as one of wastewater land treatment systems has received more and more widely attentions all over the world since the system can simultaneously realize the goal of treatment and reuse of wastewater. Matrix as the core unit of SWIS is becoming one of the study focus. Constitute and function of the matrix were introduced,factors of matrix affecting the performance of SWIS were analyzed,principles of selection for matrix were proposed,various study results were summarized,and research interest in future was in prospect,aiming at providing some reference for theoretical research and actual application of SWIS.
