Adsorption of Ethanol Vapor Containing Organic Gases on Modified Activated Carbon Fiber

Adsorption properties of ethanol vapor and the influence of surface functional groups and structure were studied. ACF was modified by post-carbonizing and/or dipping in a certain inorganic salt solution to improve the adsorption capacity. After modifying,the adsorption capacity is greatly improved,such as 376mg/g and 516mg/g,for ACF0 and ACF3 respectively. The breakthrough time was also increased tremendously,30min and 80min for ACF0 and ACF3 respectively. The results suggested that impregnant and post-carbonization changed the surface structure and surface groups greatly,which was beneficial for adsorption of ethanol onto ACF.
