Degradation of PBDEs by Manganese Peroxidase of White Rot Fungi Phanerochaete chrysosporium

This paper describes a laboratory experiment on aerobic degradation of 2,2',4,4'-tetraBDE(BDE47),one of the commonly found congeners of PBDEs(polybrominated diphenyl ethers),by manganese peroxidase(MnP) which is produced by means of agitated culture of Phanerochaete chrysosporium.Influences of β-cyclodextrin of different concentrations on the biodegradation were investigated as well.The experimental result showed that BDE47 could be degraded by MnP with the degradation rate of about 70% through 15 day incubation and very little influence on the degradation of MnP was detected.
