Influence of DO in Internal Reflux of A~2/O Process on Denitrification

Dissolved oxygen(DO) plays an important role in microorganism growth and affects removals of nitrogen and phosphorus in a wastewater treatment plant with A2/O process.A systemic monitoring was conducted at a city's WWTP,investigating the impact of concentration of DO on de-nitrification in the anoxic zone of the A2/O process.It was found that the drawbacks in the anoxic zone impaired de-nitrification,i.e.,DO concentration was too high in the internal reflux,and in addition,carbon source was consumed too much.Based on the investigation,a non-aeration section was suggested to be set up in the present oxic zone in order to promote de-nitrification,which could save carbon source and energy consumption.
