Research Progress in Microbial Fuel Cell for Nitrogen Removal in WWTP

Microbial fuel cell(MFC) is useful in wastewater treatment for enhancing nitrogen-removing in recent years.Application researches in this area are reviewed and principles of nitrogen-removing of MFC summarized in this paper.In comparison with conventional biological de-nitrification,nitrogen-removing by MFC in wastewater treatment is analyzed in terms of the main factors such as DO,C/N ratio and pH.Problems related to the practical application in prospect are discussed.
