Electron Acceptor of Anaerobic Ammonium Oxidation

In inorganic condition,taking cultivated ANMMOX sludge as the seed sludge,oxidation reaction of ammonia was done with sulfate,nitrate and nitrite as electron receptors respectively.From the aspect of removal rate,it was found that reactors with NO2——N,NO3——N and SO42——S as electron receptors can reach 0.030 0 kg/(m3·d) NH4+-N removal rate on 24.5 d,40 d and 31 d respectively,with the ability of oxidizing ammonium from strong to weak as NO2——N,SO42——S,NO3——N.Judging from △Gθ,three reactions all can occur.Reaction with nitrite as electron receptor is a biological process of acidity consumption,while the reaction with sulfate as electron receptor is a biological process of alkalinity consumption.
