Regular Pattern of Strontium Migration in Water with Varied Flow Velocities

Strontium as a radionuclide was studied in terms of its migration in soil.This paper described a miscible displacement experimental column,filled with loess and sprayed with water,with which the effect of water velocity on Sr migration was investigated.Breakthrough curves of bromide(BTC) and the vertical profiles of Sr concentration were obtained under the condition of saturated loess and various velocities of water flow.With the help of software CXTFIT2.1 the values of retardation factor(Rd) and the relevant parameters were determined.The experimental results indicated a very strong Sr adsorption ability of loess and that Rd,which was changeable depending on the externals,decreased with the increase of water flow velocity therefore promoting Sr migration in soil.
