Preparation of Ceria Nanocatalysts and Its Application for Ozonation

Using Ce(NO3)3·6H2O and(NH4)2 Ce(NO3)6 as cerium source respectively,ceria nanomaterials were prepared through a facile chemical precipitation method.The influence of cerium source on nanostructure and surface properties were investigated.The obtained ceria nanomaterials were applied as ozonation catalyst.Results indicated that the catalytic activity was different due to different cerium sources and surface.The sample obtained from Ce(NO3)3·6H2O revealed higher catalysis,and the degradation of phenol was accelerated 70% after ozonation of 60min.Novel application of ceria nanomaterials would provide a new choice for water treatment by ozone.
