Removal of Nickel Ions in Aqueous Solution via Micellar Enhanced Ultrafiltration

Micellar-enhanced ultrafiltration(MEUF)is an effective separation technique for removing metal ions from aqueous environment.The simulated wastewater containing nickel ion was treated by MEUF using inorganic ceramic ultrafiltration membrane and sodium lauryl sulfate(SDS),a kind of anionic surfactant.Effects of some important parameters were investigated,such as membrane pore size,concentration of SDS,concentration of nickel ion,pH value of solution.Experimental results indicated that the ultrafiltration effect was the best when temperature was 20 ℃,transmembrane pressure 0.15 MPa,membrane pore size 20 nm and surfactant concentration 6.0 mmol/L.Under the conditions,the rejection ratio of nickel ion was up to 99.25% and membrane flux was 89.65 L/(m2·h).
