Characteristics and Correlation of Cyanobacteria Density and Chlorophyll Concentration in Golf Course Waters:a Case Study of Beijing Cascades Golf Course

As the early warning reference index,cyanobacteria density and chlorophyll concentration play an important role in water quality early warning especially in artificial lakes.In this research,we focus on the hot-debated issue of water quality in golf course waters,and have a continuous observation site-in waters in Beijing Cascades golf course for one year.The results showed that the chlorophyll concentration and cyanobacteria density significantly changed in temporal and spatial.Cyanobacteria density began to increase in early June,and reached the peak at mid-September,while the chlorophyll concentration continues to rise from the later of June.The cyanobacteria density in water showed lower near the left bank than the right,may be because the water in right bank of lake has more contact with the fairway in golf course,has longer Lake shore,and has more influence of the turf maintenance practice,such as chemical fertilization and clips in mowing.In the summer,the chlorophyll concentration and cyanobacteria density has a significant positive correlation because fertilization in spring and high temperature and rainfall in summer appropriate cyanobacteria growth and reproduction.
