Characteristics of Fine Particulate Matter Pollution from Highway

Fine particulate matter was sampled in Chengya Highway(Shuangliu Section) in order to find out the characteristics of fine particulate matter pollution from highway and its influence to ambient environment.The result showed that average mass concentrations of PM_(2.5) 2 m and 120 m away from the highway are 97.36 μg/m~3 and 89.44 μg/m~3,respectively;OC mass percentage in PM_(2.5) accounts for 23.1% and 23.2%,respectively;EC mass percentage in PM_(2.5) are 12.9% and 10.6%,respectively;the ratio of OC/EC in PM_(2.5) 120 m away from highway(2.2) is greater than 2,indicating secondary organic carbon conversion occurred in the diffusion process.Five heavy metals(Cd,Pb,Zn,Cu and Ni) which related to vehicle emission are seriously enriched in PM_(2.5).Correlation and factor analysis indicate that the highway has an important influence to ambient environment,and fine particulate matter not only comes from the vehicle emission,but also comes from resuspended road dust which caused by the vehicles and crust dust.
